UPDATED NOTICE April 1st, 2021 Governor Kelly signed Executive Order No. 21-09 on April 1, 2021 which states that all state agencies shall extend renewal deadlines for any professional license that was in good standing as of March 12, 2020, that has expired or will expire during the State of Disaster Emergency, and such licenses shall remain valid until 90 days following the termination of the State of Disaster Emergency. All state agencies shall also extend the deadline for any continuing education requirements mandated by the agency until 90 days following the terminations of the State of Disaster Emergency. The State of Disaster Emergency has been extended to May 28, 2021, by Section 5 of Senate Bill 40 enacted during the 2021 Legislative Session. This means that licenses that had/have an expiration date of March 31, 2020 through July 31, 2021 will now have an expiration date of August 28, 2021. These licenses will be lapsed if not renewed by August 29, 2021 . The required 30 hours of continuing nursing education must be completed at the time of renewal. Read More Important Message for Visitors to the Board January 21st, 2021 KSBN DOES NOT perform fingerprinting services in the agency effective immediately. The Board of Nursing will be open to limited public traffic, but it is highly recommended that you conduct business via online services, mail, phone, or email. Only 2 people are allowed in the lobby at one time. You can make an appointment by calling 785-296-2967. No children or other adults are permitted. You may find our direct agency contacts information listed under Staff Contacts on our website. Please continue to follow our website and social media [ Twitter and Facebook ] and our COVID-19 Information Center for agency updates and frequently asked questions. Thank you for your patience during this difficult and uncertain time. There are licensing requirements that must be met before a license can be issued which includes information that must be received and processed. Due to the high volume of applications and information KSBN is receiving, processing times may be longer than usual. Please continue to check your application checklist as we will update it as information is processed. It slows processing times when staff must respond to numerous emails and phone calls as to whether a piece of information has been received and processed. Another important reminder, licenses are issued on an individual basis and times may differ for each applicant. Agency staff are working diligently to process applications and required information. We want to get applicants licensed as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience during this very busy time. The mission of the Board of Nursing is to assure the citizens of Kansas safe and competent practice by nurses and mental health technicians. Verify a License! Check out the NLC! Check out the other Kansas regulatory boards, nursing related groups, and more. Read More Thank You The Kansas State Board of Nursing would like to recognize the contributions that are being made by nurses at all levels during this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. The courage that each front-line nurse demonstrates daily is heroic, requiring conquering personal anxiety and fears to provide care to the most vulnerable patients. Those nurses in leadership roles are struggling to make informed decisions, generate plans for our communities when no rules, guidelines or even adequate supplies exist. Meanwhile, nurses and APRN’s continue to provide care for the non COVID illness and emergencies that do not stop just because our nation has an unprecedented infectious event. We applaud your “Can do” spirit, efforts to collaborate with the entire health care team and all State and local agencies that are working together to get Kansas and our nation through these unfathomable times.
